How Much Food Should a 4 Month Old Eat....

My baby will be 4 months next week. Right now, she is still on breastmilk/formula. She has a doctor appointment next week, but her doctor is SUPER conservative, very organic and natural so I'm not sure what she's going to tell me. And no, this isn't the type of doctor we searched for, she visited us in the hospital and we ended up just going to her. She works for a very, large, reputable pediatric chain in our state. My baby is blowing a ton of bubbles, gumming the nipple of the bottle, but she can't hold her own head up yet...atleast not for a very long time, so she's not ready for a high chair. But, can anyone tell me when they started feeding their baby solids or first foods? What should I be looking for....

None.

Wait for 6 months. Your baby's gut flora will thank you!

I know many an EBF baby who didn't eat solids until they were over a year.  Mine was sixteen months.

6-8 months is the new guideline. My YDD (she's 7 months now) was showing signs of readiness to eat (reaching for food, paying attention to what we were eating, sitting up supported) since about 3 months, way early. I still waited till 6 mo to introduce solids because it's simply what's best for her system.

When you're ready, though, check out this link on introducing solid foods. I followed this site's advice with ODD (she's 4.5) and she is a fantastic eater, not allergic to anything and her favorite foods are broccoli and apples.

With my dd it was:

Cereal at 2 months.
Baby food at 4.
Table food starting at 7 1/2

She had triple gaining weight which is why she started the cereal at 2, and wasn't getting full so at four here doctor said to start her on vegetables

By 6 months she had two teeth.

By 8 she's had 4 and was resting diced fruits and veggies. Meats, cereal, pizza, eggs, toast, hamburgers, everything lol

She's 2 now and still doesn't gain weight lol but she eats more than a horse

I started about 6 months or after depending on the baby. And I started with veggies.

Nothing. Wait until at least 6 months, it's more about her gut than anything else
