Is this because of my bi-polar?

I haven't been taking my meds lately. They don't do anything for me and I don't need them anyway. However, I've been shopping lately and my husband says I'm putting us in the poor house and I need to take my medicine to control this.
How is doing a little shopping caused by my bipolar?
who's right?
but how can one have anything to do with the other?

Oh lawd. If you are bipolar then yes, you need your meds.
Your DH is right. I doubt it's a "little" shopping and if it is you must not have enough money to even do a little.
Do you have control over your shopping? Can you stop since DH says you don't have the money for it?
Do you know anything about the disorder?

It makes you do things on impulse. Some people shop excessively, some people become promiscuous.

The primary symptoms of bipolar disorder are periods of elevated or irritable mood accompanied by dramatic increases in energy, activity, and thinking. The illness has two (bi) strongly contrasting phases (polar): 1) bipolar mania or hypo-mania and 2) depression.
1) Bipolar mania or hypo-mania symptoms include:
-
- Euphoria or irritability
- Excessive talk; racing thoughts
- Inflated self-esteem
- Unusual energy; less need for sleep
- Impulsiveness, a reckless pursuit of gratification (shopping sprees, impetuous travel, more and sometimes promiscuous sex, high-risk business investments, fast driving)
2) Bipolar depression/major depression symptoms include:
- Depressed mood and low self-esteem
- Low energy levels and apathy
- Sadness, loneliness, helplessness, guilt
- Slow speech, fatigue, and poor coordination
- Insomnia or oversleeping
- Suicidal thoughts and feelings
- Poor concentration
- Lack of interest or pleasure in usual activities
Of course! I don't see the need to stop because I'm not spending that much.
My doctor has told me, but I'm not like the other wackos that have it

If your being serious then you need to be back on your meds and do some serious research about this illness you have.
