My 7 year old checked a book of peoms out of her school library. I have to say that I was a little put off by the illistrations. I can't believe that they banned Tom Sawyer, but this is in the elementary school library.. It must be just me.... Here are some excerpts....

Yep, it was labeled racist because of Jim. They don't want our kids reading it. I think this poet has a lot more issues...

Yeah you're old. I read them as a kd & my kids read them now. Even my mom loves Silverstein.

I have almost the entire collection of his. Tom Sawyer shouldn't be banned though.
My I must be old moment was when I took my 8 yr old shopping for spring clothes (she had a massive height spurt this winter) and saw what stores call clothes for elementary girls
