Forget that! I'm pregnant and I'm still going to do it

I have a horrible cough, fever, headache and body aches. The cough is bothering me the worst though. I called my Ob and she told me to take plain robitussin. I then called my pharmacist and she said there is really nothing considered ok to take during pregnancy. She said the plain robitussin won't even work for me because i don't have any mucous. It's a dry, persistent cough that males me feel like my head is going to explode. I found robitussin makes a cold and flu med that contains phenylephrine and I'm going to take it. I suppose some relief so I can get some rest is not permitted. I'm not suffering any longer.

I'd take Sambucol - it's natural and probably safer than the drugs

You should have someone pick you up some Pine Bros Softish Cough drops at CVS.  they really DO help with a dry cough.

Good luck with that.

(Doesn't someone have a list of shit that you can take when you're pregnant and breastfeeding that won't drug up your fetus or poison your infant?)

4 moms liked this

Honey (a couple tablespoons), juice of half a lemon, and a bit of hot water.  Works just as well (if not better) than cough syrup.

If you take it once or twice, its not gonna harm you or baby. Just don't make a habit of taking it all the time.

I think phenylephrine is fine during pregnancy. If I remember correctly that is what I was told to find when I had a cold.

So if you arent going to take the Dr advice and do whats safest for your baby, why did you get pregnant ? There are ways to get relief from colds , Sudafed helps, so does Vicks.
