Just because I'm a single mom does NOT mean I'm poor!
Ugh I get so sick of people acting like I need handouts because I am a single mom now. I make good money. I have a good education and a great job. I don't need to sign up for the food bank at your church, I do not need to put dd on an Angel tree to get new clothes, dd is on my insurance (people always seem most suprised that she is not on medicaid) and I am not living off of CS, I don't get ANY cs thank you very much.
Yes I get it, people are just trying to help. But geeze, don't assume that just because someone is single that they need help! I know married couples with two incomes that need the help more than dd and I do. I appericate the concern, but after awhile, it gets insulting, esp if the same people ask again and again and again... I even had someone tell me "well you're a single mom, you NEED this help" Um no I don't. I declined you nicely the first three times, now leave me alone. And then when someone offers you something that you don't need (ie a food basket at Christmas) and you say "No thank you, please give it to someone who is more needing of it than I am" they call you a snob. Its a no win situation.
