Are you one of "those" moms?

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post
I have a friend who always uses the pronoun "we" when referring to her dd.

"We have a cold."

"We had preschool today."

"We've been hitting lately."

Lol. Really? You're both hitting? Or just her? And you went to preschool too? ;)

I know, no big deal. But it gets on my nerves a little. I tend to notice that the mom's who use "we" to refer to their kids also tend to be the ones who can't seperate their own identities from their childrens' identities and tend to be the moms that are a little too involved in their kids' every move. Actually, I read a study once that broke down the psychology of it and found it to be true.

Are you a "we" mom? :)

1 mom liked this
I'm totally a we mom and a we wife. My kids are 1 and 2 so they still feel like an extension of me, still breastfeeding, still baby wearing etc.

I'm also my husband's caregiver/advocate so that leads to the "we" wife.

It works for me :-)

Ha well that's good point. But she is saying it like "she has been hitting" so then it becomes "we have been hitting." Lol

Quoting AleaKat:

I do it on rare occasion but not on a daily basis.

The "we" in "we are having a hitting problem" means

He/she is hitting and I have a problem with it. Lol

I've said, "We're having a problem with..." referring to behavior.  Because it is our problem.  Otherwise, no.

Not when talking to other people, but occasionally when I'm talking to my child I'll say "we have a little cold?" I really don't know why it comes out once in a while, lol

No, but I do use the royal We when I refer to myself because I'm just so fricking awesome.

I feel the same. To say it as often as this friend does literally sounds ridiculous.

Quoting Anonymous:

Nope, it's sounds so ridiculous.
