Grammar and spelling corrections

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post
Why do people feel the need to correct someones grammar or spelling when the person is asking for advice or making a comment. Why do they think everyone needs and english lesson?

Generally it could be some trying to help others. Sometimes it's the last ditch effort to save face. I personally have a hard time taking someone seriously who has horrid spelling and major grammatical errors. Sometimes I do wonder how they expect their kids to learn something they clearly cannot teach.

I've confronted a bully like that. She didn't even know what grammar was by the looks of her own replies. Sad.

I usually only comment on spelling or grammar when the person in question is criticising someone else's language skills or intelligence.

It happens most often when someone is giving a very "loud" opinion on a subject and every comment they make is poorly written. If you are trying to act like you are smarter than everyone or you are being judgemental, and you write on a second grade level, people are going to point out how stupid you are.
