Whats the big deal. So to be happy you have to have a paper saying you own each other. You can't be happy just living togather. Added*** I have been with bf sence june 1997 we have been happy this way. I decided I did not need a piece of paper to say that I love him.

To me its more then a paper, its a union made under God. If it means nothing to you, then absolutely don't do it. The devorce rate is high enough!

I think you've mistaken a marriage for a marriage license.

Some people are happy just living together.  Some enjoy the ritual of a wedding and more formal contract of a marriage.  Not sure why this would bother anyone...

In most people's eye, it's a union under God.

A legally recognized marriage offers a lot of benefits that non marriage does not.

It's cheaper to be married.  You get tax breaks.

It's like living together extreme couponing.

It makes a lot of things easier too.. Like paper work after having a baby, insurance papers, mortgage loans and it carries more weight for some reason when you're trying to get information about the tv bill that's not in your name if you're the wife
