Is it racist

Is it racist to only want a doctor that is the same race as you?

Edit: First of all, I should have said I prefer a doctor of the same race, not that i would ONLY have a doctor of the same race. Currently I am trying to find a psych dr for my teen dr. The pedi gave us a list of drs she recommends. Some were men, some were women. My dd said she wanted a woman - fine, I understand that. But of the women drs on the list, there were only a couple. The first, who is most highly recommended, does not bill insurance, so I would have to pay out of pocket. I can't afford that. The second we looked up online to know more about her, and first of all, I can't even pronounce her name. I'm not sure what race she is, but by the name I'd think not my race, but I was still willing to consider her, but then we looked at some reviews, and some were not so good. My dd looked at it and said she didn't want someone of a different race, and I wondered if people would think we were racist for not choosing her. Not that it matters why we choose who we choose, but I just thought I'd put it out there and see what people thought, just for curiosity sake.

I would have to say yes. I guess it depends though why one would need a same race doc.

I dont know. If you assume that a doctor of another race isnt good enough because of their race then i would say yea.
