Big Bang Theory... I am not a "Penny!"

Posted by   + Show Post

Since the Sitcom, Big Bang Theory, gained popularity.  The shear mention that my husband is a scientist typically leads to the "Penny" comparison.  Seriously, just because my husband is a physicist doesn't mean I am his proverbial "Penny."

The comparison is quite annoying and kinda insulting.

Any other scientist's wives out there experience "Penny" moments?

No, didn't she play the lead role on the show 'Blossom' years ago?

Quoting Anonymous:

If that's her name, then yes, yes she is.

Quoting Caitlin1983:

Blossom is a neurobiologist?

Quoting Anonymous:

Are you a "Amy Farrah Fowler"? Or a "Bernadette"? Or Raj's sister?

Did you know the person that plays AFF is an actual neurobiologist in real life?

"At the end ofBlossom, she chose to attend UCLA, although she also had been accepted to both Harvard and Yale.[5][6] She stated that she wanted to stay close to her parents and did not want to move to the East Coast. She earned a bachelor's degree in 2000 inneuroscienceHebrew and Jewish studies, and went on to the PhD program in neuroscience."

1 mom liked this

What I find hilarious is the friends I have who, god bless their little hearts, aren't exactly the "intelligent" type watch BBT. Then they get this air of pseudo-intellectualism.

"But, I get all the jokes!"

Not that hard, guys.

I may fall more into the Raj's sister category.

Wow. At least she can pay off her student loans now? Lol

I can't believe she has a PhD.

Cool! I worked there too. Did he live there long?

Quoting SoltaniMommy:

Nice, my husband has worked there... He is a nuclear physicist or solid state matter.  However, you prefer...

Quoting Caitlin1983:

Not a scientist's wife, but a scientist's daughter. I am from Los Alamos, NM...the only reason for the town is the Los Alamos National Lab (first atomic bomb). So lots of Amy Farrah Fowler's, not many Pennys.

What kind of a scientist is your husband?

Lol. I love Sheldon's responses to when Penny asks what the new wifi password is. Funniest part is that she just shrugs and says, "Ok! Thanks!" because she is so used to Sheldon and his quirks. I love that show. :-) It's brilliant!

Quoting SoltaniMommy:

I believe the new password is Penny is a freeloader... (no spaces)

I am still laughing at this reply.

Quoting barrelracer1699:

"Penny get your own internet!"

She also wrote a book on "attachment" type parenting.

I doubt she ever had student loans lol.

Hmm.. seems like more of a compliment than anything. She clearly isn't stupid.. she just isn't a scientist. She's likeable, cool, the yin to their yang. Not to mention the hotness. *shrugs*

It will pass. It's the "Friends" of the generation. Pretty soon somebody is going to find a pregnancy test in a trash can and it will become more of a soap opera.. and then it will quietly die.
