Does that look like spina bifida?

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post

I tested positive on a triple screen test, so I couldn't wait to see a specialist so I went and had a ultra sound done. The tech said SB would be very noticeable if it was there and I don't see it? Do you?

The arrow is the baby's butt or the ending of the tail bone and the top obviously the neck part. I'm 16 weeks btw

I don't know. What is the arrow pointing to? I hope not. ((hugs))

Bless your heart, I am so sorry. It is for this very reason that I chose not to have this test, as well as an amnio.

Too many of my friends would test positive for either downs or sb, they'd worry for the rest of their pregnancy, and then have healthy babies.

I'm not an ultrasound tech, but if there were signs of sb, they would have told you. What did they say?

Try not to worry, although I know that's easier said than done.

You are really going to stress yourself out. Just try to relax and went for the doctor

It looks like there's a tiny opening in that area, but most of the time even the positives aren't real on those tests. I just had mine done and they warned me straight away of the false positives. Most kids turn out perfectly fine.

I can't really tell from the picture. The Sonographer needed to decrease the depth and image in the transverse plane. Take another picture without the glare. Do you have any others? Perhaps in the transverse plane?

Thank you! I'm absolutely going crazy over here :'( I never knew how inaccurate those test were and when they asked if I wanted to take it I just said sure why not. Now in stressed to the moon and back.

So I went to this little ultra sound place just to see for myself if u could detect anything. The tech isn't allowed to disclose and "medial disclosure" but when I asked if my baby looked healthy she just grinned and nodded.

So now I don't know what to think, of course it all comes down to what the doctor will say next week when I undergo all those test. :(

Praying its a false positive.

itis hard to tell without being a medical professional and it is something that can vary a LOT on sonograms.

i found some images on google that look similar to yours, but like i said, i am no expert. really, you wont know until the baby is born or your have a 3-d sono.

did they tell you what that arrow is supposed to be pointing to? i would be more concerned with spina bifida on the right side where that dark opening is than on the left side where the arrow is.

nevermind-----just saw your explanation that the arrow was at the buns.
