TMI - I need to have surgery... help?

When my last DS was born in October I ended up with a fourth degree tear from the vaginal opening all the way to the rectal opening (yes, ouch!)  Apparently it didn't heal correctly and now I have a hole on the inside between my vagina and rectum - lovely, I know.  I can both poop and fart out my yoo-hoo and let me tell ya, it's an awesome experience *sarcasm*   Anyway, I have to have surgery to repair it and the doctor is telling me it will be a 6-8 week recovery time.  Has anyone else had to have this?  I'm scared.  I just got back from maternity leave last month, now to have to be gone again for that long, I don't know!

I never have, but I have a strange question lol. What was your reaction the first time you discovered that you could poo out of the "other" hole?

Nope.  I had episiotomies with both my children.

LOL - It isn't a very nice feeling and it took me a little bit to figure out what was going on.
