Abstinence program or safe sex education at schools? Eta
Which would you rather your kids go thorough?
Eta:I wanna thank everyone for replying, I'm enjoying your responses. The reason I did one or the other is because I was more wondering which one should take priority. I should have put that in the OP.
Do I hope my child waits? Yes!!
But if she chooses not to, has a lapse in judgment etc, I want her to know her options. Know how to protect herself.
I will reiterate all those things to her, but sometimes they need to hear it from someone other than just their parents.
Quoting brebugmom91:Why both?
Quoting Unoriginal.:
Both.
Personally I don't agree with abstinence, so I don't believe it should be taught. I believe that is a personal choice a child should make with their parents. Not a school.

I think safe sex ed should include abstinence as well, that both should be taught and encouraged not just one or the other.
Oh ok. I understand.

All bases covered lol

I think safe sex education should include abstinence. It's the only foolproof method of birth control, after all! But I don't think it can end there- it needs to encompass birth control methods as well, because not everyone is going to abstain. I hope my kids are willing to wait until they are in solid relationships to have sex, but regardless of when they do it, I want them to have good, up-to-date, accurate information on sex and birth control as well.
