Is this cheap of me or a good idea? - UPDATED in OP

DD is turning 6 - we planned to get her a kindle fire since she uses mine a lot.  I actually decided to buy myself the larger kindle fire and I was planning to give my dd the other one that I have now.  I will get her a new case and upload lots of kids apps for her.  is this a good idea or should I just bite the bullet and get her a brand new one (I would then sell my old one)

 

Thoughts?

 

UPDATE - well the day after I posted this, my kindle was not charging, there is something wrong with the "port" - I called amazon and since I have only had it since Aug, they sent me a brand new one - so this solves the dilema, my DD will be getting a new kindle.

Thanks, I figured, she would never know the difference and the "old" kindle is only about 8 months old.  :)

that really wasn't the question.  We had already decided to get her one and I have the money - why not?

That is a great idea...if in a few years and when she is older...YOu want to get her a new one then go for it BUT right now your old one will do

well we are spending about $500 on the party so if I can save 150ish dollars, I thought why not?  lol

I gave my 8 year old my old ipad.  He couldn't care less that it had been mine - he was really excited to have one.
