April Fools Prank - I'm Bi-Sexual

My 16-year Old son thinks it would be a funny prank to trick his friends (and family) that he's Bi-sexual.

He told his LGBT co-workers who believed him and told him welcome.

He told his youth church group who, by my daughters witness, became uncomfortable.

He even tried to convince me!!!

I am livid.  We live in a close-knit, conservative small town.  This is going spread like wildfire.  How am I to protect my other kids?!  How do I explain this to them!?

Now I question whether or not he is?

(I am so sad)

It's not april and he's already telling people?  It's not a prank.  He is bi.

And if he is bi-sexual? So what? You shouldn't let the possible spread of gossip prevent your son from being who he is. Teach your other kids to stand up for their brother if he is actually bi and to tell others to STFU if they have a problem with it.

On the other hand, if it was a joke, it was not very funny and he needs to learn what is and is not okay to joke about.

Why would he joke about that? It's kind of a hard thing to come out and say, is it not? And protect your kids? From what?
