would you have paid this??? *edit pic of the $77 "vermin" for the haters

Posted by   + Show Post

a month ago we rescued some rats from the SPCA... this weekend we noticed one had an infected cheek and his teeth were growing crooked.

So today I took him to the vet.. $77.. to have him put to sleep and his teeth trimmed.. antibiotics. It will grow badly again but next time they should trim it with clippers.. $17 every 6 weeks or so...

the alternative is $10 to put him to sleep...

would you have paid it?

here is my $77 sweetie.. Perry.. his life is worth it.some of you on here.. hmm... not so much.

here is the issue with his teeth.. not something gnawing will help.. his teeth grow mis-aligned.

But you will be happy to know atm he is eating soup and doing well.

Yes. I have 2 female rats. Of one of them gets sick and it's not something I know how to care for then I'd take her to the vet and pay to have it cared for.

LOL!  I wouldn't have a cat either, lol.

Obviously, I am not much of an animal lover..... unless it's a lab - I love labs :-)

NO!  But I would've never 'rescued' rats....those things are disgusting and I am terrified of them...... and anything in the mouse/rodent family.

they are actually more clean then an indoor cat

*shrugs* you miss out on some good animals then

Probably it's not THAT much for a pet. My sister had a rat at first I was so grossed out, but in the end he turned out to be one of the best pets we ever had. He had a lot of personality, and really enjoyed interaction with us.

his teeth grow deformed.. they grow sidewase.. its not a matter of me letting them grow.. there is nothing we can do other then trim them or put him to sleep.

Quoting Anonymous:

Why are you letting his teeth grow so long? Give him stuff to gnaw on to wear his teeth down. It's a heck of a lot cheaper.

I'm just not really an animal person. I don't get the carrying your dog around and treating it like a child thing either.

Quoting harehelper:

Don't knock it till you've tried it, LOL. They are super smart, very clean, you can teach them tricks and everything.

Quoting GigantaursMommy:

No, it's a rat. I really don't understand people keeping vermin as pets.
