I paid my mom $80 a week. But my mother drove to my house every day, put DD on the bus when necessary and made breakfast/lunch. She also did a little light cleaning for me.

when I was working DH was home two hours after i left.
I paid minimum wage to my sitters (while praying they would be so happy with the money they wouldnt beat my kids...there's a video on here of a slap happy nanny)
i had no issue paying someone a premium. i always thought my kids were worth it
if you cant afford to pay your sitter then perhaps you should look into state funding via DHS.
