Mamas from cold (or coldish) places

Posted by   + Show Post

Dh wants to take our 4, almost 5 year old hiking this weekend. The weather has been great, but now the high is supposed to be 38 with a chance of snow, they're going in the morning so it will probably be a little colder than that. Is my southern kid going to freeze to death if he goes? lol It's not the temp I'm so much worried about as the dampness and rain/snow. Opinions?

I'd be more worried about the wind.... Are they hiking at elevation? If so, I wouldn't send him. My five year old can barely handle hikes at elevation with rain and snow.... Otherwise, I send my kids all of the time:)

Send him in snowpants boots, hats and gloves and a good coat ad he should be fine.

It's snowing like crazy here, and will be through tomorrow and Friday -

It's all about the way you dress when it's cold.

LAYERS, LAYErs, LAYERS.. and a scarf, gloves, and hat do wonders.

I live in Alaska. My DH and I took a hike this afternoon and today's high is 34 (we're going through a heat wave). LOL As long as your kid is dressed appropriatel (layers) he should be just fine! LOL
