Donating breast milk.....maybe

My husband's cousin had her baby last week, she's 2 months younger than my DS.

Right now she isn't making any milk and is having to supplement with formula, something I know she didn't want to do. She made a FB status about how hurt and upset she was that she wasn't producing...

The thing is...I actually have an over supply. I know I have 50-60oz in the freezer right now.

I'd like to offer her the breast milk that I have so that she could have the opportunity to still give her DD some milk, weather supplementing or until her supply comes in (if it does).

Should I call and ask her if she would be interested or would that be rude?

I don't drink, smoke, I'm not around smoke, I still eat healthy (because I'm feeding my son too) and I think I'm generally healthy.

If you know she wants to feed breastmilk, I would offer.

Sure, what's to lose?

Just make sure you offer it to her in private, don't blast it on FB

I think that is really awesome of you. I would definitely offer her. I would also link her to La Leche League. Many people think they're not producing enough when in actuality they are.

How does she know she isn't producing enough?

Do it! She may not have even considered it an option. She may be taken aback at first so try not to be offended by her response.
