My children broke the neighbors potted plants and I'm just so embarrassed! I'm making them write "I will play nicely with other people's things", and write a 2 sentence apology note.
This is complete torture to them and can barely make it to the 5th line... Ages are 5&6

Nope. It'll teach them to respect other people's property and that there will be consequences if they break someone else's stuff. I'm sure they will learn their lesson after this.

No I don't think so. I just took my 5&7 tow wii and ds systems away till further notice because they can't take care of their things.

NO... not at all. I would give them chores to do and pay them. ( I would hold onto the money though) and then have them buy the planter and plant that they broke to replace the neighbors.
