Why do people use the emergency room as a quick care?

I know a girl whom takes her daughter to the ER for everything. It makes me wonder. I thought the emergency room was for life or death. What are your thoughts on this?

It's the bain of insurance companies. It's become a huge expense dealing with people like that, and it's becoming far too regular.
My kids have been to the ER maybe 3-4 times in their lives. It was always an emergency that their doctor or urgent care could not handle.

I have no clue...my kids are 25 and 27 and Ive never taken them to the ER in my life.
Luckily Ive never had to for an "emergency"...and we've always had insurance for doc visits.

Is she on Medicaid ? Most of the ppl I know who do that are and they don't care because it isn't costing them money
