kids and suicide..

So my daughter's friends got suspended from school today...my daughter is 10. At recess two of her friends were taking about getting in trouble for posting something online...not sure what it was but the cops were involved. Anyway..they were taking about killing themselves because they were in trouble. Not just talking...but specifically discussing a couple ways they would do it and when and where. Pretty graphic. So..my daughter and two other girls went to the principal. Her friends are mad...but everyone told them what they did was the right thing to do. It's sad that kids this young would think to kill themselves just for being in trouble.. I don't know what suspending them is going to do....I'm glad something was said..because kids do commit suicide and who knows if they would have done it or not.

That is absolutely horrifying that they would even have those thoughts.

Any child that mentions suicide needs to be kept watch of. Therapy and support groups for kids and parents can help too.

Your daughter should be proud she did a very responsible thing!

But yeah..they need to talk to someone... it's sad they think that's the answer to their problems.
