Run your child to the doctor? My child is never ever sick. She woke up with a 102.5 temp. No symptoms other than feeling like shit from the temp.

I'm likely to let it "run its course" for a day or so before running off to the doctor. I have a newborn in the house now though and I just really hope he doesn't catch it.

If the fever doesn't get too high and if the symptoms are typical cold/virus I don't take them in. I try not to spread the sickness if I'm sure all I will hear is "rest and fluids".

It depends on the symptoms. With just a fever, I would likely do rest, fluids, and fever reducer and give it a day or two.

I give it a few days unless he has a severe fever or trouble breathing. If he is injured we go to the dr of course.

Yea I'd just watch it and treat the symptoms as they come.

My doctor has a "rule" I guess you can call it that if your child's temperature hits 102.1+ to bring them in. Once it hits 103-104 it's hard to get the temperature down in a lot of children. But that's just my daughter's pediatrician's office.

I usually call and speak to the nurse before making an appointment and rarely end up taking them in. Usually they can give advice over the phone and determine if the kids really need to be seen which isn't very often maybe once a year.
