Married Mommas that took their husbands last name.

Lets say your maiden name is Smith, and your married name is Johnson. Do you feel like a Smith and a Johnson? Do you feel like a Smith when you are with the Smiths and a Johnson when you are with the Johnsons?

Do you still feel like a Smith, but not like a Johnson at all?

If you dont feel like a Johnson, does it bother you that your kids are Johnsons? Do you wish your kids could be Smiths?

I ask because I dont feel like a "Johnson" at all.  I am not a "Johnson" I am a "Smith". My in-laws feel like DD is more theirs than my family's because her last name is "Johnson" and she looks more like a "Johnson".

How do you ladies feel?

ETA:: O think i worded this wrong. I know who I am, I am me. My last name doesnt play a part of it. What i mean is I dont feel like I'm part of the "Johnson" family.  KWIM?

I don't put tht much energy into any of that. I'm just me.

I felt like me. My children act and look like a combination of the two of us. I don't dwell that much on my last name.

I miss my maiden name.

I'm Polish by marriage now and I love my Irish maiden name.

I don't feel like either necessarily, I don't belong to either. A love and enjoy all of their company but my name does not identify me.

I'm definitely my maiden name, but definitely fit in with my married last name.
