I don't buy a lot of ground beef. We mostly eat chicken. I bought a pound last week for spaghetti and froze it put it in the fridge this morning to use for spaghetti tonight and the meat was grey/brown colored? Why wasn't it red anymore? Did freezing it change the color? I've never had that happen? It's new was frozen right away and thawed in the fridge. It was cold... Does that just mean the meat was bad? I broke it up and there were red pieces of meat mixed in the middle?? I'm kinda grossed out now.

They actually add the red color to the meat. It's supposed to be grey/brown

Its normal. If it wasnt that color than you'd know they put all this crap into the meat.

As long as you froze it before the use by date and it doesn't smell, it's safe.

I produce beef - it is supposed to be brown.  Only supermarket meat is red.
