help for mumbling?

ds7 doesn't open his mouth when he speaks. 

It's irritating as f*ck.

Any suggestions before I lose my mind??

Tell him you can't understand him when he speaks like that. Make him repeat himself until he speaks clearly.  It's annoying, but repeating himself will get more annoying and he'll knock it of.

We have been having this problem with DS 6. We have been letting him chew sugar free gum because he has devloped the habit of clenching his jaw all the time. He even chews it at school so he doesn't clench so much to try to break the habit.
Is this new for your son? Mine started at the beginning of grade one.
You might want to consider cause that might help you figure out why he is doing that.
