Do you feel like you are missing the Motherhood Gene?

1 mom liked this

I gave birth to two children and found I was not able to bond with them.  I took good care of them but just did not have the motherly attachment to them.  Can anyone relate to this?

I have 3 kids and I'm not naturally maternal.

Sometimes. I'm missing more of the "Suzy Homemaker" gene than the mommy gene, though

I thought I would be like that...because I generally do not like kids. But as soon as they got here...the mom gene showed up!! I still don't like other kids!

Thanks for the honesty.  Do you have any idea why?  I used to look at mothers that were very affectionate, devoted, and well, motherly and I felt on the outside looking in.  I just did not feel it.

There is no such thing as the motherhood gene.  If you can't bond with your children then there is something wrong with you emotionally.  I  would tell the person that can't bond that they need to see someone.   If you don't bond with your children then you didn't meet their emotional needs.  It is never to late to bond.
