I think micro preemie goes by weight... Like 2 lbs and under

micro preemie is defined by weight not gestational age...under 2 1/2 lbs is a micro preemie

I don't know enough about it to have an opinion. I assume there is a certain answer and no room for consideration.

it's under 2.5 lbs using the medical definition....two friends had babies below five pounds and those were teeny, I can't imagine half that weight.

My son was born at 28 wks 2lbs 4oz. He was considered micro preemie.

Babies have survived as young as 21 weeks, I believe...but only in rare cases, I think only 2 that I've read about.  I think the general cut off for when they will provide living saving measures is 24 weeks, and micro preemie I would consider up to 29 weeks.

my daughter was 28 weeks too...2 lbs 7 ozs ...she was considered a micro preemie too
