Who spends more money, you or SO/DH?

Posted by   + Show Post

I have to say me. I would spend way more money if SO didn't set a limit for me. I always feel like we need something. I use to call SO cheap, but now I am thankful he is. We finally have emergency money.

Dh... he has a thing for electronics. We have 5 computers, 3 laptops, a tablet for each of us, a couple of those e-reader things, and smart phones.

It's ridiculous.

Depends on what. I have more debt, so I have more bills...which I pay for (we're not married just yet, so we have separate accounts at the moment). He spends more money on fun stuff...becuase he has no debt. Lucky SOB. lol BUT I am finally almost paid off on my ginormous dental bill and am almost paid off on all my store credit cards (get off my back, I spent 400 on Christmas gifts and those got put on my Macy's/Dillard's/Penney's cards). Then I will only have my Chase card to pay. THANK GOD.

Hmm...I'm not sure, I think it's pretty even.

I always tell him, for a smart guy, you have no sense. At least financial sense. ;)

Quoting Luna091306:

Exactly! lol The thing is we already have a plan but his plan is going way off our original plan. For instance we are moving soon so I figured out how much we would need for first months rent, deposit, deposit on utilities, moving truck, and other things we will need and put that in savings. So now we have this money in savings and he keeps forgetting why it is there and wants this and that. I told him to pretend it doesn't exist. SMH He drives me nuts with that.

Quoting ksueditz:

Lol my dh is the same way.
He says, I want to do x,y,z. It will only cost... he always has a "plan." smh

Quoting Luna091306:

Same here. My dh found a tablet on sale and kept bugging me about getting it. I was like we have a laptop, THREE (yes THREE) PS3s, a smartphone, and a smart tv. What the hell do you need a tablet for? He also wanted the new red PS3 just because it was red. Ugh! I hate telling him no, but someone has to have some sense. lol

Quoting ksueditz:

Dh. He thinks if he, or the kids, want it, he should buy it. That's why I am responsible for our finances.

I'd say me but only because I do all the grocery shopping, clothes shopping, buying things for the house, etc. lol but on things for ourselves that aren't essentials and what not, i'd say dh, i rarely buy anything for myself.

I spend more money on unnecessary things like luxury items and clothes, he spends more money on things we actually need but tends to get the better quality things which are always more expensive. In the end we both spend a lot of money, but we both have some hefty savings accounts individually and jointly as well, so it's not really a concern to us.
