My 8 yo dd tonight informed me that she has TWO HUNDRED sentences to write tomorrow as a punishment "because her teacher is tired of wasting her breath on us." About homework not being turned, not sure if it was us as in our family or the whole class. These are third graders. I was told there was first strike 200 second strike 250 third strike 300! I couldn't believe it. What do you think? Also is it ok if the whole class has to split the two hundred?

I will be seeing the principle in the morning first thing.

My father made me write that much when I was her age. I think it's a bit much, but it won't kill them.

Her teacher was tired of teaching?

Kill her!

No, don't kill her. I'm not sure how I feel about this. At least they aren't beating their asses with wood paddles.

I see nothing wrong with it. If the kids aren't going to listen and do their work they can sit and write sentences. At 8 years old a child can write 200 sentences.

yeah, I can see having them write "I will turn in my homework" 200 times...that is only the front and back of a few sheets of paper...and my guess is, this is NOT the first time your child hasn't turned in her work!

I had to write when I was in school and it cured me the first time...don't go to the principle...if she didn't do her homework then she should be punished...

I dunno if its too much or not but not sure it accomplishes much since its just more homework kids aren't going to turn in lol.
