What's the big deal? ( A religion post)

Yeah yeah.. another religion post. Beating the dead horse.. blah blah blah..
I have to ask though.
If you try and stay positive, live life to the fullest, are kind, compassionate, forgiving.. why does it matter what religious backround you have? What makes a Catholic better than a Buddhist, or vice versa? ( No offense meant.. Those are just the two religions that first came to mind.)
I believe if you are an all around good person, good things will happen to you and you will end up where you are supposed to be. No matter what religion, race, sexual orientation, etc.
Why does it matter to some people so much? What am I missing?

That's just it, it truly DOESN'T matter. People want to make believe that it matters what religion/sexuality/race/etc you are, but at the end of the day, I truly believe that as long as you're a good person, you're doing things right...this is coming from an Atheist.
