Concerned about daughter's teeth

I have crooked teeth and my teeth are one of my biggest self esteem issues. I've noticed one tooth on my two year old that is crooked. I don't want her having my teeth! Should I be concerned and start saving for braces or do you think it will correct itself when she loses her baby teeth?

Odds are she will need braces anyway even if her teeth arent as bad as yours.

Take her to a pediatric dentist. They can watch her bite and development and tell you what to expect. Genetics will play a role, of course, but it really never hurts to start saving!

We have started saving for our son, I wore braces and had a bad over bite and gentics to play a roll in teeth so we just want to be prepared. My husband also has a gap too so it might be safe to say our son will need some dentel work later on in life.

My daughter had her first dental visit at a year old. She only had four teeth then. By 18 months, she had most of her teeth. At two years old, the dentist warned us that she may need braces. My husband and I both have crowded teeth. I should have gotten braces as a kid, as should my husband but we had no dental then so it wasn't done for us.

We are expecting that she will need braces because of family history on both sides.

Hopefully your DD and my own won't need them but I would not be surprised byt the need in the future.

I should have had braces. My mom couldn't afford them. I figured I should plan on braces.

My twin has straight teeth as do my mom and bio dad. Me and my other sister have crooked teeth. I should have had a couple teeth pulled and braces. Me, my grandma and one aunt have a canine that grows behind the front teeth and pushed them forward. Theirs isn 't as bad because they had it pulled. I also have a double set of canines on my left.
(I don't know what the teeth are really called but I call them canines because they are pointy almost like a vampire)

Our DD has a very significant overbite and we took her in for an evaluation at 18 months. She's almost 7 now and will most definitely require orthodontics, but first she'll need a palate expander and a lip bumper. We can't begin treatment until her 7 year molars are in, as well as the first 4 adult teeth on the top and bottom.

I worry about her being teased, but we're militant about building her confidence. We make no mention of our concerns outside of the dentist's office and so far, we've had no issues. On the last visit she told the dentist "I don't want to change my teeth, I like myself the way I am."...I'm not going to stress too much about things as far as the cosmetic aspect is concerned. Her top teeth (4 of them) are always sticking out of her mouth, so we do worry about her sustaining an injury and chipping or breaking her teeth : (

If anyone reading this has crowded teeth, a high palate and gum issues, please check out the symptoms of Ehlers Danlos Symdrome. Another possible symptom is TMJ (jaw issues usually the jaw pops). I have EDS with hypermobility but most doctors know little about it and those that do think it's rare so they don't look for it. I think it's a lot more prevalent but people just don't know about it. Just Google Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. There are tons of links about it. I will try to post about it in May as May is EDS awareness month. There are tons of videos on youtube too but be careful with those as some people have weak stomaches and watching people (with the hypermobility type like I have) turn their arms around backward, twist their feet around, bend their fingers backward etc can disturb some people.
