Pit Bull owners a question? Other dog owners opinions welcome

If you are a Pit bull owner(bully breeds). Do you have a male or female? What are your opinions about them? If you have both a male and female do you find one easier to train or a better personality? Are female dogs really just bitches?

The reason I am asking is we have a female pit and she is a bit crazy and has been much harder to train and deal with then our male. After getting her we had someone say that female pits are much harder. She is now 3 yrs old and we are having more issues with her and it is making me nervous we have had her since she was 4 mths. We have been looking for a more qualified trainer to work with her and I will be taking her in for her yearly checkup and having some blood work done to rule out health issues. I am just looking for other ideas and opinions.

I have a male and a female.
The male is much more easy going and affectionate, the female is more hyper but still affectionate. My male has actually been harder to train, but he's still young. We got my female first so its been a while since I trained her.

The male has much more patience with the kids. The female gets bored with them and runs off to play her own game. Lol

We've had a male and a female. She was sweet, but very bitchy. I'm not a fan of female dogs and they're personality, demeanor, etc (of ANY breed). She bit my son and we had to find her a new place to live. Saddest day of my life.

The male we had lived to be 12, handsome little man. Now we have a Corgi/Jack Russell and a Doberman/Great Dane. We love mixed breeds  :)

We have 5 male dogs, all stubborn arses, 2 guard breeds. I prefer males but that's just me.

So what is she doing? Proper training and management are important.

She has just been acting strange and either overly attached or been trying to be dominant. I now the weather hasn't been helpful with getting enough exercise. She definitely needs a refresher training sessions.

I have to say I am also a male dog person but she was an awe poor thing rescue.

I had a male.  You definitely have to find a trainer that is good with pits.  I used to work for a trainer who used a sprenger collar on pit bulls, to keep them from pulling, I had to quit working for her.  When I got a pit a few years later I took him to a different trainer and she wasn't good with pits either.  She owned border collies and I'm sure she was a really good trainer for that breed but I don't think you can train most pit bulls the same way you train border collies, they are just really different breeds.  Is your dog fixed?  Dogs that are fixed at a young age are easier to work with, if they were fixed later on in life they might still act like an intact dog, they still have the same drives and behaviors, fixing them just keeps them from making puppies.

I have a female German Shepherd. We decided on a female for a few reasons. Our breeders opinion in general is that female Shepherds tend to be slightly more loving and forgiving of human error. They also tend to mature faster. We also knew males generally get bigger, and size was a factor as well. This is of course generalization, and there are always exceptions and the dog's individual personality comes into play.
She has been amazing though. Very trainable, nice playful drive and extremely patient and loving with my kids. We would like to get a male next to compare. :)

I have a female. She is tame and sweet, and learns from the other two older dogs (female and male).

You have to figure out where you stand immediately in the relationship. They will go off of that. If you don't take leadership then they won't take your training seriously. That goes for any dog. We are laidback people but if she does something wrong it is quickly corrected. She isn't aggressive with anyone but the male dog, but I suspect it is because of a crush. We have had some trouble getting her not to nip at his legs when they play but it is getting a lot better.

We don't do formal training, because we don't need it. Our dogs are a part of our family, and we teach them and treat them as we want. I just don't agree with a lot of the training concepts that some trainers use.

GL!

She's probably resource guarding. Kikopup on youtube is a great resource.

Females are smarter, good memory, harder earned but rewarding relationship. Males are easier to control but a bit slower, laid back to figure things out but rewarding relationship. It's like that for me with all the animals.

I have had female and male pittys.
