Girl Superhero Costumes

DD (5) is having a Family Read Night at her school where everyone is dressing up as a Superhero (even though she wants to be the typical princess lol).

Anyway, we don't have any girl costumes, and the only time we can really get one is around Halloween. Since this was unexpected (just found out it is next week) I need to throw something together quick.

What are some good girl costumes that I can make from home? Preferably one that looks nice but doesn't take a ton of time to make and made mainly with stuff lying around the house? (I'm not broke, but also don't have a ton of money to spend on a 1 hour thing).

also, if you're willing to part with no more than $5 ($3.99 i think) Target has red silky capes in the party supply section for kids.

Yeah I tried that. She wants something cute,  but that's the end result if I can't come up with something.

let her dress as Merida from Brave.  or Mulan.

They're not comic book heroes, but heroes in their own right.

Does she have a sparklely skirt? I'd just put her in some bright colored leggings, a skirt, a bright colored shirt then get some bright colored fabric and make it into a cape.
ETA: You can let her make up her own super hero name which I'm sure she'd love.

Have her dress as a pretty ballerina and add a pink silk cape, a superhero mask, and cute boots. She will be a beautiful, one of a kind. Super hero :)
