Why is it. (Might cause a debate)

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post

Why is it that black history month is celebrated but if I wanted a "white history month" its racist.

Girls in boy scouts is fine but no boy could join girl guides (Canadians)

Gay pride parades every year but if I teach heterosexual families I am bigoted.

Schools can teach about all religions and all holidays but not about Christmas

That there can be "Black Beauty pageants" where no whites are allowed but if someone tried to do a White only pageant they would be sent to court.

In my sons gymnastics class and a black child went in front of Connor for an activity (no big deal) Mom was beside me (didn't know I was mom) and mumbled  "good job we never go in back put the cracker in the back" I turned to her totally surprised but didn't say anything. What would have happened if I used the N word?

I am sorry for the past I really am...but how much longer are we supposed to bend over backwards for what our ancestors did??

Oh and learn the bloody language of the country you are moving to!

Okay so I will get chewed out for this. But before you do. I have friends of all colours I am not racist I am just tired of being treated like a second class citizen by those that claim they are.

Vent over

luls, okay, that makes no sense. You are more offended of a month based upon history than heiritage during a racial vent? Black History is American History. If I were offended about racial privildge I'd be more pissed that I coudn't celebrate my culture without being racist, not history. American History is pretty much White History.

Quoting Anonymous:

It's about heritage not history. Two different things.

Quoting .Milfshake.:

OMFG what about hispanic heritage month, or are we just singling out african american month?

Let them have their holidays and parades. Heterosexuals and white people haven't specifically been persecuted in a real long time that I know of.

It's easy to say that it sounds silly that they get their special events, but let them be. If you aren't homosexual, or black, or asian, or Latino, chances are you won't understand the issues their people have gone through even if you try.

As for language... there are many other much more diverse countries in the world where people are exposed to and familiar with at least the basics of multiple languages. Get over it.

I agree.

And the odds of someone having ancestors who owned or condoned slavery are slim. So many cultures have come to America. My dad's family originated from Italy. My Mom's side is Irish from my Grandma and Cherokee from my Grandpa. Why punish a skin color for the past? Most people with white skin are so many different nationalities.

Your right. Honestly I can't stand any of it, ll these rules about boys, girls, black Hispanic, Asian whites. i can't stand it. Who the f#&k cares what shape your eyes are, or how dark or pale you are. Everyone is the same on the inside, and people need to look at the future what happened in the past was horrible, but no one really alive now, ever did any of that whether a victim or cause to slavery or anything. so its not right to treat whites bad or anyone for that matter over it. It has nothing to do with YOU or ME that happened between people of the past who are mostly not around anymore, and are happy because it was stopped. Not any of us have a right to pull the race card, so people need to get past it, don't forget about it since its a major lesson to be learned and a tragedy to remember, but people need to stop acting like they're a victim to it because no one is, it didnt hapen to them/us. Sorry But i hate that crap. This isn't about any race or sex, its about everyone equally. Some people need to Grow up and get along, dragging the past into the present that much will only keep things from improving, it will only keep races seperated. there is no good that comes from the comments about race, like you stated that woman said.

No one who owned slaves is alive. No one who was a slave is alive. So therefor no one should feel entitled over slavery nor should anyone apologize for slavery.

Yes.  I am white. However, while black people in America where slaves...my ancestors were starving during the potato famine in Ireland.  My ancestors did not own slaves. Hell, my ancestors didnt own food.

Yes. It has been a long road to equality for black people. No doubt. But black men had the right to vote before any women. Should I say that I have been repressed because I am a woman? No. I have the same rights as men. Black people have the same rights as white people.

Black people have a better chance at succeeding in life. If they choose to do so. For college there are scholarships open only to black people. And, of course, they can apply for the scholarships open to everyone. In jobs, companies are required to hire a certain percentage of minorities.

Not counting the actual racist rednecks....black people keep racism alive more than anyone else. Instead of taking a look at their own behavior, the racism card will be played above all else. Yes, in some situations there is truth in it. But in a lot of cases...not so much.

As a white person, I get tired of having to walk on eggshells for fear of being called racist. I should be able to dislike you..not based on the color of your skin but on the content of your character.  I cant stand someone saying that I dislike them because they are black. No, I dislike you because you are a bitch.

Of course, I am not speaking of all black people. I am speaking of a majority of black people in my area, though. The ones who went to the same schools that I did. The ones who were doing stupid shit while I was trying to find scholarships that I was eligible for. The ones who didnt apply to the scholarships that I, as a white person, could not apply for. They should take responsibility for their own lives instead of blaming everyone else.

OMG, I agree 100%.  I'm tired of hearing how the AA's have nothing and they are "owed" crap.  They have all these things, including BET, their own magazines, video stations, etc but if a white group wanted white history or their own whatever, all hell would break loose.  Let a black attack a white and it's all over but you let a white attack a black and here comes Quannell Z, muhammad and all these other whatever they call themselves yelling racism........

Exactly. I am of Native American heritage and they got treated way worse. They were enslaved and their land stolen.

The Irish were slaves here, too.

It wasn't just blacks. And in Africa, tribes enslaved one another and sold to the Americas.

Quoting Anonymous:

I agree.

I hate when black people talk about what they are "owed" bc of slavery. Please. I grew up on the rez. My people had it waaaayyyyy worse. But I dont hang that over white peoples head. Gtfo it.

Idc if I sound racist. It pisses me off.

Why is it that black history month is celebrated but if I wanted a "white history month" its racist.

Because we celebrate white history every day at schools which cram that completely lopsided male whites did everything important in the world shit down our kids' poor susceptible throats.

Girls in boy scouts is fine but no boy could join girl guides (Canadians)

No sure about girls joining boy scouts or it being fine, although I guess I could understand it if that organization offered activites beyond some of the ridiculous stuff I had to do when I was a girl scout (I only joined because I liked camping) to earn my badges.  I'm also not sure if any boy actually tried joining girl guides but since calling a boy a girl is considered the worst insult known to the male ego, I'd say his public admittance of liking stereotypical girl activites would bring him more trouble than its worth and is likely a much bigger problem than not being able to join the girl guides.  I personally don't have a problem with boys being allowed but girls are considered inferior by the male species and rarely do boys wish to publically fight to do girl shit so if a boy really fought that fight, he has more courage than anyone I've ever heard of.

Gay pride parades every year but if I teach heterosexual families I am bigoted.

I seriously have no clue what gay pride parades and teaching heterosexual families have to do with each other.

Schools can teach about all religions and all holidays but not about Christmas

Your kids need the schools to teach them about Christmas??  The idea is exposure to the realities of the world, not reinforcing a notion that we live in a bubble.

That there can be "Black Beauty pageants" where no whites are allowed but if someone tried to do a White only pageant they would be sent to court.

I'm thinking that no one is stopping you from fighting the same fight many blacks did just for the right to use the same bathroom, water fountain, entrance, bus seats or schools as whites, if its really that important to you to compete with women of color.

What stopped you from telling her that you thought her words were offensive without being offensive yourself?  You using offensive words back would have only made you look as much like an idiot as she did.  Her bad behavior had to do with being an asshole and a horrible example of a parent, not so much the fact that she happened to be black.

I am sorry for the past I really am...but how much longer are we supposed to bend over backwards for what our ancestors did??

I'm sorry, exactly what bending over are you doing, other than stooping so low as to write this stupid post that I was bored enough to feed into.
