I'm confused about the bible.

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post

I'm watching a show about the Bible and the Rapture. They were talking about how when Jesus returns (the Second Coming) he will judge the living and the dead.

That confuses me. Why would he judge the dead? Aren't they supposed to have already been judged and in Heaven or Hell? Or where are they?

What's the point of judging them again?

Judgment Day is for all. Dead and Alive. It hasn't come yet.

i was told heaven and hell havent happened yet the souls are asleep till judgement day

Quoting Anonymous:

That doesn't answer my question. Why would he judge the dead AGAIN? They are supposedly already in Heaven or Hell. Why would that change? Why would he redo?

Quoting mariesmama:

he will judge the dead too i beleive it says in the bible that the dead will rise like they are asleep

Who is the say time works the same in our afterlife as it does here on earth? Can you honestly wrap your brain around how big the universe is? Eternity? No. There are things that our human brains can't comprehend.

I think the understanding, (although I can't back it up with verses), is that after you die your soul goes up with God, or.. somewhere else if you're cursed I guess, but you're in a suspended sleep state. Then on judgement day the bodies rise up and are renewed and rejoined with the souls, and judgement day commences.

An alternate theory I've heard is that judgement day is simply so everyone knows why they went to heaven or hell, and there are no questions left, even though the people already went where they're going.

I get that. What I don't get is why the dead would be judged AGAIN.
