and DH has 2 accounts from a gas company and electric company in Massachusetts that were charged off.  The problem is we dont live in MA we live in AZ!!!  But my MIL did use to live in MA the time these accounts were opened.  The electric bill is for $1336 and the gas bill is $1511.  WTF?!?!?!  I can not even believe a mother would do this to a son. Is there anything I can do? If we contact the credit bureau is there a way to get this taken off as it was clearly identity theft?

You have to have her arrested in order for it to be charged off.

You can dispute it through the reporting agencies and they will have you give them an explanation why you are disputing it. Im sure if you can prove that you didnt live in that area at the time and it wasnt you, it will get taken off.

You have to have proof that you didnt live in MA during the time the bills were made, send it to the companies that say you owe them. Pay stubs and leases or other bills and such should do just fine. The companies will then take it off your credit and if you know who did it tell them and they will go after them.

At least thats what happened  when I had someone use my name and info to ring up a $1200 phone bill in my name when i wasnt even living at that address at the time.

I really hope that I can go this route without having to press charges against her!
