Why are some people so against going to counseling?

If it's something that would really help someone (and they know it would help them) why do they fight it?

I find its a pride thing or for some people its very hard to confront those feelings that counseling would make you confront.

I'm not against counsiling.  I'm against getting charged $300/hr.

I had a great therapist, but my insurance only covered 6 sessions per year and he wanted to see me weekly.  About the time my therapy was really becoming useful, insurance ran out and I had to quit.
