Bare min furniture = poor?

Do you think someone who has a "bare" home is poor?

I keep my home "bare". I don't have bookshelves (did once, I thought it looked cluttered) fancy decor and all that jazz that most people have. That's my preference.

I was at my neighbors the other day playing dominoes. One of our friends needed to charge her phone and my neighbors charger didn't fit. So I sent her next door to get mine. Our homes are build IDENTICAL. (Apartment) She comes back and says "her place looks so much bigger Sylvia" Sylvia has been in my home before. One of Sylvia's friends was like "I wanna go see the difference" , so she goes over to my place. She then comes back and says "you poor or something? You aint got shit over there"

I was shocked and embarrased. Yes my neighbor has the whole "living room set", matching rug/curtains/decor. She's got a cute wine rack shelf in the dining room. I don't have a dining room table anymore bc ex made me sell it and haven't bought one yet. My carpet has a few stains (there when I moved in) that I plan to buy a nice living room rug to cover. Those are the only two things I plan to add. Right now, the dining room is set up as a play room for the kids since its not being used.

Sylvia tried to tell her friend she was wrong and told me to ignore her cuz she was drunk. But I still felt hot and flustered :/

So do I really live "poor" bc my home isn't fully furnished?? Pics in replies.

The less clutter a house has, the cleaner it looks.

Not having a dining table is kinda weird, but other than that I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Id be lost withot bookshelves though. Or rather, surrounded by piles of books.

I'd call you a minimalist, not a poor person.

If someones using milk crates as a coffee table and has a 1970's era coach, I'd think maybe...Not that I'd give a damn or be crass enough to mention it.
