Should it be called something other than marriage?

A friend of mine on Facebook made a post in which he said that, while he has nothing against same-sex marriages, he feels that it should have a different name. He pointed out that the definition of marriage is a man and woman coming together before God. He does have a point, but definitions change every day and I think it would be rude to call it something different. What's your opinion?

Nope.I think if people feel that strongly then they can call theirs Holy Matrimony since it is religious.

Does that mean people who are not religious can't get "married" either. I'm so sick of hearing "but the bible says" crap.... Yeah yeah but not every straight couple believes in god either. Not every couple that marries are holy rollers that base their whole lives on what the bible says... So why do the people who marry 7 times or the people that don't believe in god still get to call it marriage?

That how separatists think. During the height of the civil rights movement for blacks, a large population was all for giving blacks rights, as long as they were "different" rights. Let them use public bathrooms but only ones specifically designated for them etc. This train of thought is no different imo.

I don't agree with that, but I know those that feel that way.  They're all religious too.

we should call straight  an gay marriage. "oh shit im having sex with the same person for the rest of my life " then there would be no more argument between any one lol
