20% is $6 for a $30 bill, right? Is this acceptable to you?

If you say NO, then what is acceptable to you? Am I supposed to pay your whole months rent on one dinner you are serving to me?

I personally think 20% is too low to start with. We start with 30% and go up for great service.

Depends on the service they provided and how many people at the table. I always start with 1 per person and go from there. So no matter what if we all go out it starts at 6.

I think 20% is fine, we don't really go to sit down restaurants. It's not really relaxing with three kids, and we don't have a sitter. So it's either counter service (Panera, moes, pita pit, etc...), or Starbucks. lol That's about it unless I am cooking.

I thought 15% was the minimum....
An I wrong?
DH always tips so I have no clue to be honest.

It depends on what type of restaraunt it is, to me.

im pretty cheap, because when we do eat out its a treat and we dont have all the  money in the world. so i usually do 15% if they are ok, if not i do 10%

I usually do 20 % but people do 15% it use to be 10% but i think that would be if the server was horrible.  I dont eat out much but when i do i tip 20%

People like you are screwing it up for everyone else. You boast about your 30% tip, and other people follow (kind of like keeping-up-with-the-Joneses), and then suddenly a 20% tip is no longer acceptable.

20 percent is the norm here. 15 for JUST adequate service, 20 for.good and higher for great service.
