Segregation Question

DH and I had a lunch party today for some friends and coworkers. Segregation came up as a topic and I cringed. Of course I thought it would become heated as we had just about every race present. I was surprised to learn that just about everyone agreed that by getting rid of segregation, we are seeing cultures and traditions disappearing.

The doctor I work for even discussed how his family owned several businesses in the 40's-60's and were successful. As intergragtion happened they lost their african American customers to white people's business and it ended up destroying his family. (He is black)

My coworker is Asian and discussed how her parents regret coming to america because they thought they would be able to raise their children in their Chinese traditions anywhere. But that it has proven to be difficult.

What are your thoughts?

I don't feel like minorities can have it both ways. Separate can not be equal.

Very well put. I am leaning towards that thought myself.
