I've never served before so this is an honest question.
I have a brand new, nursing baby at him. I have to go in for jury slection this Tuesday. Do i get a chance to pump while there?? Or, better yet, might i get excused for now because i do have a nursing infant and i'm a sahm?? (Please dont be rude. I am not trying to avoid my civic duty but im just curious)

I think you can but you will be called on again sooner than if you served

I think here, in fl, you automatically get out if you have a child under one year that is nursing exclusively. They cannot stop court just so you can pump so they let you out. I know here you don't even have to go in you just mail back th post card they sent you and tell them you are nursing a (however old) baby and cannot attend

I think you can be excused if you are the primary care provider

Typically for jury selection, everyone sits in a room.  They explain the process then often will ask questions where you answer with a show of hands.  They can also ask direct questions to an individual.  You typically get a lunch break.

I think that if I were in your shoes, I'd just call down to the court house and ask about a deferral.  I don't know what the rules are for having an infant in the courtroom.  I doubt they'd want to take the risk of having a juror with a screaming baby who was distracting everyone from the proceedings.

I think that jury duty is our responsibility and we shouldn't try to get out of it without a valid issue.  But in your case, I think you have a valid issue.

Pretty sure you can call and say you have a nursing infant and they will excuse you temporarily. I think you have to go back in 6 months or something though

I think it depends on the state.
