We have a wooden baby gate and it's got the plastic in a diamond pattern like a lattice. The kids broke it, and instead of hauling it to the dump I decided I'm going to "recycle" it and use it for my garden so some of my vine plants can climb it. My husband says it's stupid and trashy. I say no one but us will see it and it will have auseful second life. What do you think?

Ps cafemom, those friggin full screen video ads need to stop. Now.

I think its a good use for it. Just do it and let him see what it will be like, he probably just cant picture it now.

just spray paint it green or black or something, then it won't look so, uh, recycled.  i repurpose stuff all the time.

Spray paint it with the Krylon plastic paint so it blends in with the garden better.  I think it's a smart usage.

It's just a natural wood color. It'll be covered in plants anyway.

Spray painting it will extend it's lifetime. If it's thinner wood it will start to rot in a year or so. Painting it will make it last a bit longer. I think it will look great.
