Adopting a dog?

I am adopting a dog. I live in Brooklyn NY and have been using petfinder to find a puppy. So I found the cutest little guy. Fill out the application and they call and email me saying I approved. So I get excited and then the guy tells me that the dog isn't in NY, but in Tennessee and that I have to pay $125 transport fee for him to be brought to NY on top of the adoption fee. I looked up the company and they have great reviews online. It just seems weird and is kinda annoying.

I would be annoyed too. Your supposed to be able to refine your search to area.

Don't do it! More likely a scam.

It tells me that the shelter is in upstate NY, about an hour from my residence. That's why I am totally confused.

That's what I was figuring, but it has good reviews online. So I am not sure if it is a scam or real.

I would ask them why it says this. Don't allow them to con you like that.

Companies often write their own reviews.

Go to the pound and adopt a stray.

It could be that the dog was originally in NY and went to a foster home and they moved

I'd be leery. I wouldn't get a dog based on looks, either. Go to your local shelter, or a few local shelters since I'm sure there are a few in NY. Hang out with a few dogs that'll fit your needs. I've found that's the best way to find a dog that'll be a perfect match.

More than likely a scam. Adopting here is very difficult. We ended up going to a breeder. We're hoping to adopt when we move back to the states, so she has a buddy.
