See what CafeMoms are saying about saving time this holiday season..
Some of the moms at the YWCA tonight were actually talking to me (we were watching our kids in their class). Anyways, I got asked where my son was going to go to school. I said the charter school. I said there is no way I would let him go to the school in the district we live in. It sucks. The one lady was like "oh". So I explained I have high standards and there is only 1 district I approve of and 2 I flat out refuse to be part of. The one mom piped up about how the one used to have the stigma of oppression (i.e. being behind because of being small) but now they are supposedly the best in the county. I said they are only the best because they teach the test. She replied all schools do that now. I said the charter school doesn't so that is why we choose it. I said I have high standards since I am getting a doctorate in education. But apparently I am snobby because I refuse to have my children just be taught the test and want them to understand the material.
ETA: I only said I have high standards once and explained at the end that it was because I am working on a doctorate in education (after they already determined I was snobby).
