Don't Try This At Home, Kids

I was supposed to have my IUD taken out last Wednesday.  I went in & they said since I was new to this practice, I had to have an annual first & would have to come back on Friday to have it removed.  Apparently, they have to submit an IUD removal as a "procedure" to insurance.  So then on Friday, an hour before my appt, they called to say that I had to pay a copay of $150 up front. Uhhh... I only paid $80 to have the damn thing put in!!!

Long story short, I did some research & had one of my friends come over with a speculum & needle nose pliers.  The bitch is out & I'm stoked to ttc!

Oh wow!  You are incredibly brave.  I would be way too nervous!  Good luck TTC ;-)

I've heard of women taking out their own IUDs. It's not uncommon at all.  But I don't think I have any friends that close.

My friend works as an assistant at an ob/gyn clinic & we "borrowed" a speculum.

I was really nervous about it too, but I was completely surprised when she asked if I'd felt a tug & I said no... and then she was holding the thing up.  Didn't even feel it!
