I want to start eating healthy, I know Iam getting chicken because I got the ads and chicken breast are only $1.69 /lbs. I don't really know where to go from there. We want each meal to be low in calories, sugar, salt and no preservatives we also need homemade drinks. This is my first run at a healthy grocery list so please help!!!! Our budget is $150 for 2 weeks.

Also any cheap and tasty but healthy meal ideas or recipes.

Well mine usually looks like this:

-soy milk

-half and half

-coffee

-juice

-cheese

-turkey

-salami for the boys

-meat (I'm sooo specific)

-veggies of some sort

I am terrible with grocery lists but I manage to spend about $150 every two weeks lol and it's healthy...I do admit I have rotisserie chicken season and not a single chicken.

peppers - red and green

other fruits in season

local honey

other fresh veggies depending on my next week's menu

Trader Joe's

almond milk and rice milk

frozen fruit for smoothies

a couple boxes of cereal for breakfast

yogurt, flavored and plan

coconut milk

nuts and dried fruit for snacking

cheese

various items for dinners throughout the week

onions

bananas

Main Grocery Store

lettuces and any fresh veggies for meals throughout the week (this is most of my cart)

canned beans

a few boxed, bulk, or other canned items to add to meals throughout the week/baking items (rice and such)

bread, if necessary

sometimes fish or chicken sausage

Other grocery store

meats (chicken and ground turkey - we don't eat beef and pork)

Mostly fruits and veggies. I buy pasta in bulk, a case of eight boxes every few months. Rice and lentils are bought in bulk from the Indian market. I keep my pantry stocked with staples like coconut milk and various oils and vinegars. There's always a back up option in my freezer like veggie burgers.

Mine roughly looks like this:

Milk

Creamer

Apple or orange juice

Bananas

Oranges

Apples

Berries

Lettuce

Tomatoes

Cucumbers

Stuff for meals, like pasta, sauces, meats, rice, biscuits, taco stuff, seasonings, etc.

Ours usually looks like this :

Lettuce
Carrots
Celery
Cucumber
Broccoli
Onions
Peppers
Potatoes

Fruits:
Bananas
Grapes
Strawberries
Pineapple

Meat:
Chicken breast
Petite steaks
Ground beef (ground in front of me at the butcher)
Fish
Turkey

Egg noodles
Rice
Bread

Eggs
Milk
Cheese
Butter
Yogurt

I usually plan the meals for the week and go in with a list and stick to it (much easier to budget and stay on a healthier path with it).

I usually only spend about $80 dollar a week. If you match sales etc its totally doable for your budget :) good luck :)
