Wrong inmates don't have rights. There mail has to be checked and is often even read.

Quoting Anonymous:

If that were true, correction officers who open inmate mail would be in trouble

Quoting autummayline:

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to open any mail that's not yours

Pretty sure she meant for the general free public. But that is awesome nitpicking

Quoting Anonymous:

Meaning her reply was incorrect. It is NOT illegal to open mail that's not yours. Case in point, inmates.

Quoting bc19:

An inmate looses that privacy and right when they are put in jail.

Techinally yes but i do not think you will get into any real trouble... but since you two are married then half of everything he has belongs to you. Its not your fault your half  is in the envelope..Lol

Technically yes, if he/she wanted to file charges they could.

It's also illegal to endorse or write checks that are in your spouses name

Use their credit/debit cards without permission, even if you know the pin

Speak to utility companies and make changes to the account if you're not an authorized user..

Getting married doesn't change the laws, most married people just don't care

Technically yes. If your name is not on the envelope, then you are not legally allowed to open the contents and view the material within.

Idk. I only open bills. If he gets personal mail I leave it for him.
