I want to force my daughter

To play softball. She is almost 5 and said she would like to play but wont sign up for the team because "she isn't good enough" I think that is a terrible thing for her to feel and feel like signing her up and making her do it would help her see that she is good enough and that it's important to try. Is it wrong to force her?

Nothing wrong with it at her age. She really has no idea what it means anyway. Shell probably love being thee with her friends.

Shell realize pretty quickly that at her age there is no such thing as talented, lol.

No kid is good at five. Sign her up she'll love it, if not the games the parties and hanging out in the dugout.

3 moms liked this
Why does she have low self esteem at just 5?? That's what I would concentrate on, not forcing her to play. Fix the underlying issues.

Sign her up. Don't think of it as forcing you're just guiding her because she's ignorant :)

Make her play.

Yes. Take her to some games, play with her a bit in the yard, and maybe she'll want to sign up next year.  Forcing her might just make her resent the sport entirely.

I would not force her. She is only five. She needs to have space to branch out when she is ready. However- some kids have been forced to do somethings, and it tuned out for the best. If you were her, what would you want your mom to do?
